TWO LEFT FEET-DON’T BE LEFT BEHIND!
During his sojourn of dance Yogesh (YK) approached a lot of people to dance along. Most of them refuted with one common excuse “We have two left feet”.
The seed of the idea germinated from this basic statement and raised a question: How to get any person to dance with ease and make him/her enjoy it too? And then in these hectic times, how do you achieve that in the least possible and most convenient time?
Thus sprung the concept of ‘weekend salsa workshop’ meant for the working and well travelled professional. After all Salsa, Merengue (dance from Dominican Republic) and Bachata are danced across in clubs in most of the western and now eastern countries as well (including India). These dances are not only ‘good exercises’ but also a great way to socialize.
Off late, there are salsa classes in every lane of urban India. Most of these are ‘mom and pop’ organizations taught by instructors who adapt other dance forms or learn it from CDroms! However, salsa is not just about learning the steps. Style, attitude and understanding the ‘soul’ of the music are equally important. Moreover, club dancing is a different than ballroom dancing and allows for more experimentation and hence more fun.
‘Two Left Feet’ aims to do exactly that in 4 days. You don’t need to go through the rigorous and mundane rigmarole of numerous sessions and spiraling levels. You don’t need to spend loads of money and time to learn salsa. Just 8 hours is enough!!! So here’s to an entire new way to have a fun weekend.
