I plan to go to the hospital with few of my friends to inquire in length. If things don’t work out, I plan to gather a march and raise complaints against the Hospital and see what can be done. I will need your support in helping some one in need. ‘I’ is not the word am looking for. It " WE" that I am looking for at this time.

I have been been trapped in Lilavati Hospital from the 15th of October 2008. I brought my mother to the hospital for treatment for a minor urinary infection. From Casualty they transferred her to the ICU. The doctor said that she possibly only had 3 hours to live so I gave the necessary permission to do whatever had to be done at the time. A brain stroke developed while she was in the ICU and her right side was paralyzed. This was detected through MRI on October 17th by Dr Hastaq. I had the doctor changed since no proper brief was given to me. Next Dr Anil Ballani removed the ventilator and inserted a Trachestomy tube which was supposed to be removed in a few days. There was no change for 2 weeks and my mother was in no position to be discharged yet the Hospital Staff were forcing us to leave without removing the tube. All this occurred end December 2008. Then the Harassment started. Food for my mother started coming in with insects in it and an overdose of spice. Suddenly different infections were starting and I was very keen to get my mother as far away from the hospital as possible. As a foreign citizen I complained to the ministry of health but there was no response. I went for a second opinion to Doctors at Holy Family, Hinduja, Jaslok and a few others. All the doctors suggested undertaking a CT scan and bronoscopy but the doctors at Lilavati refused to take notice and did nothing. When Balasaheb Thackeray was hospitalized I got aquainted with some of the Maharshtra Security Personnel as well as some people from CID. They put me on to Prakash Patil at the Mumbai Hospital who subsequently wrote a letter to Doctor Prabhu Desai at Lilavati Hospital. Finally the CT Scan was done and we were told that there was Stenosis blockage in the air passage. Inspite of all this the Lilavati medical staff were making no effort to improve mother’s condition. My embassy came in at this point and my mother was given a fit to fly certificate on the 26th of March. The airline did not accept the certificate since there was no Lilavati Management signature on it. Lilavati has billed me 30 lacs out of which I have paid almost 20. I do not know what to do at the moment. I have paid so much money and still not been correctly informed about anything. The hospital staff have even refused my brothers entry in to the hospital and in fact at one point even had one of my brothers forcibly removed from the premises. They have also thrown out a private nurse I brought in and after ensuring I have no support even sent in the police to question me. This was just a few days ago. I love India but this incident makes me extremely sad and not proud of being of Indian Origin Please advise me as what to do as well as to stop this from happening to so many other patients and their families.
